Breaking News of a stabbing in Marks and Spencer Burnley..

Getting a bit close for comfort now........was only in there last week!

Shared a house with a fella at Uni who worked at M&S and he used to bring home stuff where the sell-by date was up, including one night, 30 creme-caramel desserts, which he ate in one sitting (with a little help). He went on to become a detective in the CID (now retired). He told me he's never been to Burnley but would only have been able to attempt a citizen's arrest anyway when he was a staff member anyway. Still, plenty of lucky escapes there too.

I only saw a bottle of comfort when I was out shopping earlier.

Makes you think.

If he's found not guilty of attempted murder, i reckon he should still serve time for grocery misconduct

Talking of Burnley, did anyone see the BBC news report the other day about poverty in Burnley? God it was heartbreaking

It was heartbreaking but it is the same in every major town/city in the UK. The queues for foodbanks etc are horrendous. I see some terrible stuff. Some of it is caused by their previous actions, but when kids are impacted, you can't walk by. Nobody should need to go without food in this day and age. Glad Marcus Rashford spoke out and reminded people of the need.

There is a postman in Heywood who has raised thousands of pounds for the Heywood foodbank during the pandemic and the club frequently speak about the levels of child poverty within the borough of Rochdale and are actively seeking toys for xmas presents to back an RMBC campaign

Yes indeed, and I have just donated some toys and bought a bagful of groceries for the food bank. It seems like a tiny contribution however if we all did a bit it would have a big impact. However we should be asking ourselves why the general public is feeling the need to look after those that the government should be supporting. And the reasons why there is such poverty.

I was in farmfoods in Burnley last week. If I wasn't living in poverty that could quite have easily been me. Lucky escape.

Do they sell banners?

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Suspect TVOS couldn't give a fig, and as you say, critical acclaim from more respected sources trumps everything.
