Big day for Hornets tomorrow 20:57 - Dec 9 with 1980 viewsEllDale

They find out at 2.00pm whether or not their application to be promoted into the RL championship has been accepted.
It would dramatically increase their income - once grounds are open again - if they had home games against the likes of Leigh, Halifax and Bradford with the support these teams would bring.
Be a boost for stadium revenue as well.
So It was nice to a “good luck” tweet from Dale.

Not a Rugby fan if I’m honest and have been vocal in the past of what they do to our pitch..

But we are in a symbiotic relationship with them & they are still a Rochdale team..

Best of luck to them 👍

Great to see town coat of arms back on the shirt. When it was a members run club they ditched the crest in favour of that cartoon character based on the argument that they didnt want on the shirt what is also on the towns wheelie bins.

Thank God the new owners have seen the light and want the club to be associated with the town.

Its gone to Newcastle Thunder, didn't see that one coming. I assume that because the magic weekend is there that they assume that its the logical next step.

It hasn't worked before in the football daft city and again the RFL have gone for geographical expansion of the game rather than what works. the reason we are here in the first place is because of delusional geographical expansion. Both barrels successfully emptied into both feet!

Whilst its a shame for Hornets, Newcastle is a big rugby city and you can see why they have chosen it. Kingston Park is a brilliant stadium, with great access and already attracts very high gates for Union. The amateur union clubs like Northern in Newcastle attract bigger gates than Hornets. So whilst Newcastle is football mad, it does have a significant rugby following.
