One major reason:

For clubs like Man utd that are a plc - that would involve too much money in buying back shares that would no doubt rocket in value on that information. Plus they are governed by plc rules.

The same would apply to buying back chunks of the club that had been sold off to overseas investors Wolves, City.

it would have to involve government intervention and given the fact that we have sold off almost everything (utilities etc) I highly doubt the government would do this. It almost goes against their principles, which they choose to operate on a discretionary basis.

But with a populist driven PM whose only objective appears to be to stay in number 10, whilst single headedly supporting the interior design market, and governs based on which way the wind is blowing when he sticks his head out of the window you never know. #getfanownershipdone #makethepremierleaguegreatagain

The transfer budgets would drop leaving those who retained their money no object owners would have a monopoly on success. So no change there for the petroleum dollar teams.

Ironic to see Man U fans turning up to the training ground with a banner saying “51% mufc”... They (& many other supporters) clearly don’t know how business works....
