Was the last competitive game their the brawl under the Longside?

Bowden and Thackeray off I think.

Mark Monington off for them.

That massive brawler Andy Thackeray

Great draw, especially when it seemed Premier League teams were getting drawn against each other.

Hi RAFCBLUE

* there

Yes, it was, but Alex Jones was sent off, not Bowden.

The three red cards were in two separate incidents as well.

For fans who grew up watching Dale in a certain era, this is a tie that’s almost as big as getting United was. The games and rivalry over that period of about 7/8 years have gone down in legend with the hostility and noise on the Longside living long in the memory. A different time for sure, but it’ll be good to go back.

Nine men. 1-0.

We never wore that kit combination at any other time during that season. The plain blue socks appeared from nowhere and for all anger on the terraces and the pitch that day, mine was directed at our kit man for never using them again.

It will be a brilliant evening out.

It's local (well good for me I'm near Tod) Over that fast road to Burnley through the random village named Portsmouth.

It's a free hit, we aren't expected to win.... but will.

Big away crowd. 10,000? I'm sure we will have over 2000 fans.

We're playing well and hopefully won't embarrass ourselves. (hope the current form continues) Come on Cashmoney, Odoh and Beesley.

It's a bit of nostalgia for the grandad. Pie's in '70s were thruppence hapenny.

It's money for Rochdale as the gate might be good if it's a tenner in.

We took United to penalties so who knows? Get Luke in on loan for this maybe?

What else is there to do on a Tuesday/Wednesday? Fukin nowt.

We only need 9 men and a ref that did officiating on Burnley's behalf that day.

Wonder who we'll get in Round 4?

Terry who?

Unfortunately I won't be able to go, but that's a cracking draw. As long as we put in a decent performance, everything you say below is spot on. I hope I follow start to offer live video coverage for the later rounds & at least I get to see it onscreen

For those going, hope you have a great night ( I'm sure you will)

So do I.

In the carefully edited clip posted elsewhere on here, it carefully does not show exactly why Alex Jones attacked John Francis. The clip starts after that point. Francis cleaned Jimmy Graham out and off in violent style which, outside a football game, might have been regarded as common assault at best and actual bodily harm at worst.

Graham went off injured, and Jones came on as sub (TVOS will correct me - I have a sometimes hazy recall of this match). It was clear he was going to equalise John Francis directly, at the earliest moment.

Though I am not an advocate for violence, Jones' only failure was to leave Francis still upright.
