I was on my way to the ground on the Central Line & I thought that the team selected was all wrong, proper bad. I am totally confused who picks the Team now but my presumptions are that it is the manager.....
So, why is he leaving Mbegue out of the stating line up, out best CB in the squad?? He then thinks it is a good move to leave RND out & replace him with a new boy from Brazil at LB!!! He then decides Vale deserves a starting place - why?? But not only that he decides 'pace' is not important and leaves out our quick players who play wide. All changes that, I personally, think is madness & I am totally annoyed/
The manager needs to up his game' & very quickly.
In saying that I thought Ipswich were a very decent team & would have been very tough to beat - they played well, assisted by our manager. |  | | |  |

Slowly but surely I think people are starting to see the point I’ve been making about Morrison.
He’s far too weak and slight to be a centre back at this level. Gets bullied on the ground and is totally overpowered in the air.
CB has emerged as a bit of problem are as I don’t think Mbengue is up to level either.
For me the sooner we can get Cook and JCS on the pitch the better.
But we’ll need to make a proper signing at centre back in the summer. |  |

He’s far too weak and slight to be a centre back at this level. Gets bullied on the ground and is totally overpowered in the air.
CB has emerged as a bit of problem are as I don’t think Mbengue is up to level either.
For me the sooner we can get Cook and JCS on the pitch the better.
But we’ll need to make a proper signing at centre back in the summer. |
I don't agree about Mbengue, I think he's a loon but his recovery pace is very important.
Morrison though I share your thoughts, and Jack made this point on our last podcast. Presumably he's been picked yesterday over Mbengue to combat Hirst physically, and got absolutely beasted. Also reckons he's injured far too often for a Glaswegian centre back IMO. |  | | |

Most decent teams have a good spine, ie, 2 settled centre backs, 2 settled centre mids & a settled forward line of a main striker and a No10 type player. I’d dare say that the teams in the top 6 in the Championship have this.
We definitely don’t have a good spine. We would do if the manager knew what his best team was, and stuck with it. As has been pointed out earlier in this thread, it’s a lottery for what players are playing in any match. If he needs to tinker with the side, make one change to the spine unless certain players are injured.
At the moment, we’re seeing 3 or 4 changes to the spine of the team match by match, and there’s no cohesion. The same can be said of the non spine players. We see changes for changes sake.
I think the manager needs to be bold. We can’t be consistent if we don’t name a consistent team. Making changes for changes sake is not doing us any favours. |  | | |

In 1st of a 3 game week, surely you pick your best side. Or was that our best side? Mbengue surely is always a starter. In our big losses, he hasn’t started. Wake up Stephan for gods sake. Vale hasn’t done anything to merit being on the pitch recently. Let’s not just play 2 up front every game too…..we’re getting very predictable. | | | |

I like JS because I think he has an attacking mindset, generally. But yeah, he got it wrong, or it went wrong, on Saturday. Our fullbacks don't push on, which I think was part of the reasoning behind Esquerdinah's inclusion. But, the inverted wingers thing isn't working, Vale in particular looking very nonplussed with it all. Let our wingers supply the width, and let our defenders defend. Dunne actually did well against Philigene on Saturday, imo.
Pushing our fullbacks up, and going for a high press, while having to drop the defensive line back 10 yards because Cook has no pace, doesn't make sense to me.
Our 2 man midfield isn't working, and won't work. We have to go back to 3 in there for me. Unfortunately, we have a talented but very unbalanced squad.
Nardi needs dropping, you can see that the defenders have no confidence in him, and that it's affecting them. Trouble is, I don't rate Hamer. Lucky JS! | |
