| Liam Hogan on 18:29 - Feb 15 with 1058 views | 442Dale | Whilst most acknowledge that it would have been better to retain EEL, what did Hogan do yesterday that means we should feel sorry for him? The highlights show that he was involved in the build up to our goal. Something that happened twice in his last appearance after he’d been out of the squad for even longer. Unless we recruit someone else who is also prepared to have little in the way of game time, that’s where we are at present. The central defender and the centre forward are two positions where we can’t retain a lot of options because the two playing there would be first choice almost all the time - fitness permitting. At some stage we will sign a player as good or better than EEL, then he might become the stand-in. | |

It is a calculated risk that hasn't worked 3 times now. Hopefully it won't cost us a Championship.

He was taken off at half time when it was 1-1. The main issue, coming from those who were at the game and those who watched it, was that we failed to capitalise on good situations at the other end of the pitch. Nobody disputes that Hogan’s inclusion has coincided with a 50% win rate, nor that we’d all prefer EEL to start every game. But if he can’t, Hogan has come in and done quite well, his contributions to goals are evidence of that. The biggest problem, as identified by fans for a number of weeks and discussed at length on the last podcast, is the no. 10 position. Get that right and we’ll continue winning and by greater margins.
