Because that’s how they work.

They’ve got Donnarumma who is 27 and Trafford who is 23. They’ve already sold Trafford once to then bring him back and it’s likely he’ll move again. If/when he does they’ll have another keeper lined up to challenge Donnarumma who could be there for years.

For Whatmuff’s career prospects, it’s best they do look to sell him. If he fulfils his potential, he’ll end up back at City as they’ll have a first refusal clause.

Sales of home grown talent really help the Premier League financial sustainability stats.Think they may have sold Cieran Slicker to Ipswich as well.
Oli can be a better player than either of those if you ask me.
