Would love us to play some European friendlies. Think we should link up with Atalanta, they play in blue & black & were founded in 1907. A summer trip to Bergamo would be lovely.

This would be good for the publicity. Could we revive the Anglo-Italian cup? Might need to pack the Factor120 the way things are going ...🥵

Yes, Dutch side Den Bosch in a pre-season friendly in August 1979. Dale won 7-2 and went on to finish bottom of the Football League!
Columbia Wien in 1954/55 as well.
There may well be others.

Was there at that game and unfortunately all that season. Years later when United got knocked out of some European cup game, kept telling him Dale had an 100 % record in Europe

I remember going to the Den Bosch game and was impressed by Bobby Hoy and thinking we might have a decent season... That all fell apart fairly quickly...

Bobby Hoy was really good. Probably my favorite player of that era.
Says a lot for the sake of the club back then that he left us to become a singer in working mens clubs.

New signing Alan Weir impressed me as well. Scored a good headed goal.

Didn't the then manager Doug Collins try / get rid of him . Some thing about he was playing his guitar late at night in the hotel where they were staying after a away night game. Collins probably didn't like the song he was playing. Bobby was probably the only footballer we had at the time.
