Does anyone know much more about previous Rochdale teams other than what's on the Football Club History Database site?
The first club is dated 1896 but didn't seem to last long.

According to Wikipedia there were 2 clubs prior to present club, Rochdale afc (1896) they folded in 1901. They played at the athletic ground originally the moved to Scotland, they were immediately succeeded by Rochdale town afc who tried to take over the clubs fixtures without sucess so first season was in 01-02 they folded in December 1904. There were bits of clubs prior to that Rochale Clifford for one, non have any connection with current club
