I know things take time....and I'm not even expect signings announcement or anything
New management are just bedding in and we've got to make sure we are getting the right people. That is the most important thing.

But at least announce friendly, a hint at the new shirt design or new pie filling we are considering or something.
My dopamine starved brain needs something/anything to engage with!

(This is an entirely unserious post that probably should be ignored)

There's a trickle of content coming out of the Club and no doubt this will start to take off maybe later in the week.......?

Whilst here, take a bow to all the Volunteers tidying up San Spotty it must be hot sweaty work! Job well done.

Yeah, I'm sure it will. should definitely pick up on Thursday when fixtures come out.
Just a slow day at work so I was hoping for anything to break the monotony.

Lot of speculation it's Oldham.

Its a difficult month June..

Players away on Holiday and contracts don't come to the official end until June 30th.

Keep patient I have so much faith that we will be happy come the first serious game and that is Tranmere away in the Carabao qualifier.

Not a new filling but the Chicken Balti pie has to be given a new 3 year deal!!..

I Guess we could have an update regarding season ticket sales as well, June Payday is approaching fast.

Up the Dale!!!

I'm really hoping we're in for Reece Smith who was with Harrogate last season and is apparently moving on. I've seen a fair bit of him playing for my local team Maidenhead, alongside Casey Pettit and Sam Beckwith. I think he'd be a great signing.

Yes the appointed Ben Hincliffe to the role.

I am also wondering when we will start to sign people, everyone seems to signing players at us, even worse is no updates.

Does anyone know when the players are back in training?

There was something on X the other days that said four clubs in League 2 hadn't yet signed any players, so 'everyone' isn't quite right.

The 20 clubs who have made signings have only made one or two; it's not like they've been bringing in loads of players. Don't forget that contracts run until 30th June and it could be the case that we have to wait until after then to announce anything; this is pure speculation, though.

Some of our best signings of last summer - Mani D, Pettit, Pritchard, Whatmuff - to name four, all arrived in July.

You also have to factor in the managerial change which could have scuppered some potential recruits.

It's 1st July next week and our first league game isn't until 15th August (although the Carabao Cup is obviously important), so there is still a lengthy timeframe for things to happen.

Full EFL contracted/ released list:
https://www.efl.com/news/2026/

Its 125 pages so a long scroll, the players released list is at the end of the list , somewhere around page 100.

Andy Cannon, Andrew Tutte, Jamie Allen , Eoghan O Connell .. all available.....( just in case someone wants to get the band back together....)

O'Connell is rumoured to be a target for Stockport, I can see Cannon and Allen moving to league 1 teams, I would take all three back without doubt, but we can only dream.

In respect to Andy Tutte is 36 in September, but I would consider him as a coach or player coach, at the Dale to help Watson and Magnay, he has been a coach with Bolton reserves, so he has the experience and he is local.

No doubt the change in management has affected recruitment. McNulty would have had a plan for who to sign if we had gone up and one for the National League. Watson would have no such plan and would need to evaluate what he has inherited, so he knows what he needs. I would not be surprised if we see quite a few one year deals and loan signings to almost 'get us through' this season before he can get the players he actually wants. A number of the existing squad will also be out of contract at the end of the season so there will be greater flexibility.

In terms of announcing signings some of that may tie in to the clubs' marketing plan. It is fixture day today. For the next couple of days use this to sell season tickets by highlighting certain games and the value of the season ticket. We may have players signed, virtually signed but want to release the news in a way that maximises exposure and encourages season ticket sales. The next money generator event is kit launch. Again this could be schedule around new signings. Buy your new kit and get pictures with new signings.

I think Southend named Dyer as their manager no more than 3 working day before Watson arrived. They are using the same recruiting consultants as ourselves. They have now signed four new players, admittedly they lost 6 from last season who they made contract offers too, but I am getting to the stage of eyebrow being raised that we have heard nothing about either the contract offers or potential new faces. I can only assume that we have missed out on a few new options.
Bated breathe.

The noise or the lack of, is quiet worrying, I know people will say contracts expire tomorrow the 30th June, but as other have said, other teams are signing players. It makes you wonder what is going on with Watson and Magnay.

It may be a tough year and our present squad is decent, but we need to improve the squad to ensure that we don't return to the nightmare of the NL, which was depressing. I hope the board and management make a statement on what is going on, because the silence can undermine the good work and optimism that last season created.

If we get to this time next week (6th) July whilst that would be frustrating, everything could still be in hand.

Watson, Magnay but more specifically the Ogdens and the board I trust implicitly. The Ogdens have proven 10 fold they are intent on moving us forward.

Watson and Magnay might have several targets all lined up and announcements imminent.

I hope they have seen some of last season videos and Perry is on the shopping list for a season long loan!!

I would love Perry back on loan, but I would be amazed, thankfully as it stands we have Beckwith and with Bilongo as cover, but I am not totally convinced by Bilongo yet.

Whilst we’d all like to hear about signings to improve the squad by now, it is something that will happen and the change in manager and staff will have required some understandable changes to be made.

Where I believe the club have gone wrong is not filling the void with enough information and regular news that would capitalise on how positive everything is around the fanbase. The reaction to Watson joining only built on where we were after to Wembley but there has to be an admittance more could have been done in the three weeks since.

Another interview with him around how he’s building the staff around him, his thoughts on pre-season and the fixtures. Allowing fans to hear how he views the next few weeks - it doesn’t have to be specifics around signings but was he given the chance by the club to do this?

Similarly, off the pitch, we’ve had additions to the club shop - where are the regular stories promoting this? Why not a weekly update on season ticket sales?

It’s not to say there’s been nothing, we’ve seen positive updates about some of the projects including Bowlee, it’s whether there has been a consistent plan in place to provide as much information as possible which would at least fill the gaps until signings are announced.

It’ll change, for sure. This time next week most of it will probably have been forgotten, it’s that for a club that aims to consistently improve, they have to be able to admit where improvements can be made.
