Really pleased. Hendo still capable of influencing matches with his skills and experience in moving the line.

As anticipated, given he'd not announced he'd be hanging his boots up

And adds further anticipation to next season, seeing him in action whilst he's still got the appetite

Not sure it is, given he's a year older, in a division higher, and the paucity of starts last year. how many more golf days cane he get? big fan of his, but I would be happier if he was on the coaching side; then a players wage could be earmarked for younger striker.

His ability has never been in doubt. His impact on games has actually increased over the last two seasons.

If anything, he’s a much cleverer player than he’s ever been. Recognises when and where he can affect the game. His runs and movement in the box has been better than any striker we’ve had since he returned to the club. And that includes Dieseruvwe.

Do we expect him to do play a part in every game? No. But rather have a proven striker than two younger options who may/may not be useful squad players.

Dieseruvwe, Rodney, Henderson plus one more signing who can challenge to start is more than good enough in L2.

Hendo was always a class above L2 and if anything, he's even classier now with his economy of movement over shorter but critical periods of the game

His presence in the squad, including informal coaching of younger players, makes another 12 months contract the perfect option all round, i.e. there is no downside

Sometimes a signing is more than just a player committing to a club. For the entire Dale psych this is an excellent signing.

Even though that picture of him in the new shirt with a blue, black & white scarf illustrates what a baffling decision was made around the playing strip.

Subliminal or conscious recognition, it also impacts the “entire Dale psych”.

I would imagine he will be involved in some aspects of coaching anyway.

And despite his 'paucity of starts last year', he still finished as our second-highest scorer and produced the sublime assist that almost won us the league title.

Not sure of the relevance of his golf day; wasn't that part of his testimonial for 10 years at the club? That's now passed.

Maestro? No. Elite? No. Heavyweight poster? No. Able to be rational and not over-react to individual results? Yes.

I think that Hendo will be involved in the coaching, which he did last season under McNulty and long-term I hope he will be involved in the coaching side at the Dale, post his footballing career. Last season, Hendo used his brain and experience to transform games, i.e the ball to Mani D against York, when Mani D scored.

Now we need Edwards to sign, because we need a squad with some depth, yes some have suggested we have players that already full Edwards role, but we need the ability to rotate the squad throughout the season.
