Let’s face it Pat, he’s learning on the job and seems to be doing okay at present
The upturn in form could also coincide with us having a target man for the first time for ages. Typical, wait ages for a big striker who can hold the ball up then two come along at once 😁
Probably not but if Blackburn win their game in hand they're 8 points behind us
If Larin fails to reproduce the level of play he hasn't achieved for four seasons or gets injured we're relying on Stewart staying fit or Archer suddenly finding the scoring boots he lost three seasons ago
So whereas we should be safe we can't afford to go on another run like we had after the WBA win.
I admire your optimism SouthamptonFan but unfortunately SR have turned me from a glass half full to a glass half empty type.
I desperately hope Larin does well but to me it looks like another shocking signing from SR. His 30 international goals have been against mostly small central American countries and Caribbean islands. Of his 30 international goals only 8 have come in the last 4.5 seasons in 43 games
When you look at his club and international stats he scored at a decent rate up to the age of 25 but has tailed off drastically over the past 5 years
I'm also concerned that some sites have him noted as currently injured with a hamstring problem. I'm assuming Saints medical team checked this - just like they did with Ross Stewart
Thing is Grumps the chances are Stewart will be out injured within the next few weeks and Larin has already been out injured three times this season. If Archer goes and Stewart and Larin get injured which is highly likely then that leaves 19 year old U21 Oyekunle as the only striker available
I hope you're right 1teem but let's look at Larin's overall career stats
Cyle Larin played in Canada & USA between ages of 18 & 21 scoring 43 goals in 87 games in a league that at that time was equivalent to L1/2
Moved to Besiktas between ages of 21 and 25 and scored 31 goals in 83 games (had one good season where he scored 19) in a league where Onuachu scored 30 goals in 52 games at the age of 29 -31
From the age of 26 to date he went on loan in Belgium for Waregem, played for Club Brugge, Valladolid, Mallorca and Feyenoord and scored 10 goals in 67 games
Total 84 league goals in 237 games which sounds good at 1 goal every 2.8 games but you have to take into account he scored 74 goals between the ages of 18 and 26 and only 10 goals between the ages of 26 to 30
So, he scored 88% of his goals between 2014 and 2022 and 12% of his goals from 2022 to 2026 plus he’s had 3 injuries already this season
This just sounds like another shocking SR striker signing
Puerto Rico 1 Dominica 3 Honduras 4 El Salvador 1 US Virgin Islands 2 Bermuda 3 Cayman Islands 1 Aruba 1 Haiti 4 Martinique 1 United States 2 Mexico 2 Jamaica 1 Qatar 1 Curaçao 1 Trinidad and Tobago 1 Panama 1
BTW these are total goals v the relevant country ie he didn’t score 4 in one game v Honduras
Looks like another 💩 striker signing from SR
If Arma goes and we get this donkey we kiss goodbye any hope of promotion
