Dale sign Williams from Stockport

We've been here before haven't we?

After a week of speculation, Dale have captured the signature of Stockport keeper Owain Fon Williams on a deal that will keep him at Spotland until the end of the season.

The Welsh international comes to the club having impressed during a recent loan spell at Gigg Lane in a move that proved to be more important than we first realised given the news of Lillis' return to Scunthorpe.

He has been called up for his native Wales at all age groups, and despite being just 23, he's featured for the full squad a couple of times in the past two years.

Fon Willliams becomes the second player to have signed for Dale from Stockport County. Back in the early 1990's, Dale made a big financial commitment when they signed Paul Williams from County in a move that never really came off. That Williams played one game in goal for Dale when he replaced Chris Clarke between the sticks in an away victory at Blackpool.

But if you are after more successful omens to the transfer, if he does half as well as our last Welsh keeper from Stockport, then he'll do alright.
