Interview with a Macc fan Friday, 14th Nov 2008 17:48
With Macc heading to Spotland this weekend, we've grabbed hold of Gary from the Silkweb and asked him a few simple questions.
1) How's the season going for Macclesfield so far?
We are getting used to these seasons now at Macc. Some games we perform
really well, other games we are terrible. So its a case of so far so good for
another lower half of the table season.
2) Have the points deductions made any difference to Macc's outlook for
the season given the relative safety net that it provides?
I wouldn't call it a safety net. I still think the sides that had the points
taken off them will survive. Its up to us now to win games and just stay above
them.
3) Could Macc launch a promotion bid similar to that in their first season
or has the division changed too much due to finances to allow that to happen?
We have a decent squad of players but is it promotion fodder? I doubt it. We
might push for the play offs... you never know.
4) From the teams you've seen this season, who has stood out?
Bradford were a good strong team. They will be in the mix at the top. No
doubt about it.
5) How's Keith Alexander doing at Macc?
Well he's made the town's hospital run out of neck braces for one! Only
kidding. He comes with that hoof ball baggage but we play good football on the
floor for most of the game. Hopefully you will be able to see that tomorrow.
6) His reputation is of a direct style of football which is contrast to
what you traditionally have at Moss Rose. Is that a fair statement and how are
Macc fans taking to it?
Like I said in my answer to question 5, football fans do have that "oh its
hoof ball Alexander". Lincoln might have played like that but at the moment
there is a lot of football on the floor being played. Some pretty decent stuff
as well... some of the time.
7) If you could have any of our players lining up for Macc instead of Dale
this weekend, who would you have?
That Dagnall bloke seems to score goals most weeks and Le Fondre always seem
to score late goals for you. Either of those will do us nicely.
8) Which players should we be wary of in the Macc side this weekend?
Danny Thomas if he is on his game tomorrow. Quick, nippy winger and scores
the odd goal. Veteran ex army chap Simon Yeo up front is also one to watch.
9) If Keith Alexander had a dead wife, could he win X Factor?
Not a chance.
thanks to Gary for the above answers
