Hot to Trotman

Dale have been linked in the past 24 hours with central defender Neal Trotman.
The club will no doubt have come under some pressure to replace the massive hole left in the defence by the departure of Craig Dawson, and whilst the signing of Marc Twaddle will add numbers to the squad, Dale boss Steve Eyre will have been on the look out for a commanding central half.
Indeed, that very phrase appeared on Twitter this week courtesy of Observer journalist Richard Partington who suggested that Dale would be signing a player of that very description within the next couple of days.
Initial thinking had that down as being Jason Jarrett who had played in defence for Dale against Gibraltar at the weekend, but a new name entered the frame on Tuesday with former Oldham defender Neal Trotman suggested.
The stories have come from Devon, where the Plymouth Herald had linked Trotman with Argyle, but suggested that Trotman was Dale bound after receiving an offer from ourselves.
If Trotman is to sign for the club, then it would look like we have signed a good 'un. He began his career at Oldham before making a £500,000 move to Preston.
That move was hampered by an injury early on, and since then he has had to make do with a number of loan moves - all to League One sides where he has impressed at each one.
He spent a few days with Doncaster last week in a bid to win a deal with the Keepmoat Stadium side, but suggestions are now that he could be on his way to Dale.
