Saints remain in discussions with QPR

Queens Park Rangers remain keen on Jason Puncheon and with their takeover now complete have a bit more in the way of transfer funds, its understood that Saints are looking for £1 million for Puncheon and so far no one has matched that asking price, although QPR have been near to it for a while.

The complications are that Saints would like to make Kaspars Gorkss part of the deal but the two clubs seem to be at odds with the valuation, QPR want a million and Saints want value him at £750k, the simple solution is to make it a straight swap, Gorkss for Puncheon, this would suit both Club and to be blunt Saints need to sort out this deal quickly before the centre of defence cost us points that Gorkss might well save us.

So time for us to cut our losses with Puncheon and get him off the books, whether it be to QPR or even Blackpool who also remain interested.

I'm glad Mr Cortese does our negotiating and not you. Yes we want him off the books but at the RIGHT price for US.

I'm just amazed I saw the words Puncheon and value in the same sentence..

I would estimate that Puncheon has cost us somewhere in the region of £75 -100k in wages since he returned from Blackpool in May, if we dont shift him before the window that figure will increase, there comes a time when holding out for the RIGHT price for us isnt actually the best option financially

QPR fan here in peace.

Kaspars is a great defender who was instrumental in our promotion to the Premier League. Many Rangers fans are surprised to learn he isn't part of Warnock's plans and feel he earnt a crack at the top level.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Puncheon has been out of favour at Southampton for a long time now and it appears that many Saints fans won't lose sleep over his departure.

Negotiations work both ways and, given the above, I would argue that Kaspars is just as valuable, if not more so, than Jason. Given the proximity of the transfer window deadline I think that a straight swap would be a fair and pragmatic deal.

A fair comment and ccertainly Kaspars seems to have done a lot more for QPR than Puncheon ever did for Saints, we should be biting your hands off

well saint nick, what are your thoughts on neil warnocks reprted comments about saints ??? He accused us of dragging our heels over Gorks, (true possibly) and praised reading for doing the deal over lunch....what about his handling of signing pucnheon ??? hypocrite !!! back to getting the 'right price' for puncheon, if you are a home or car owner let me know if you are ever looking to sell as i will be very happy to take either off your hands for way under market value :)
