Saints In For Fontaine Tuesday, 23rd Aug 2011 11:56 Saints look set to turn their attention Westward Saints are believed to be interested in Bristol City defender Liam Fontaine, the 25 year old 6ft 2 defender has played in the premier league for ex club Fulham, ironically coming on for his debut as a late sub in a 3-3 draw at St Mary's in January 2005 Nigel Adkins perhaps tiring of discussions with QPR is now looking elsewhere and Fontaine could be the man he turns too, the player has been a regular in the City side since joining them in 2006 and made over 200 appearances including being in the side that reachd the play offs in 2007, ironically he can play either in the centre of defence or at left back, presuambly Nigel Adkins is signing him for his central abilities rather than the fact he is feeling vunerable on the left side after going down to only four left backs on the books. Last term he started 31 league games plus 1 as sub, although this term he has played only the opening game after picking up an ankle injury, how much Saints would have to pay to secure his services is unclear, but Nigel Adkins is clearly having to re think his plans as the window shutting draws ever closer
