Refwatch Preview: Wycombe (h)
Refwatch Preview: Wycombe (h)

The referee for Saturday’s home fixture against Wycombe might cause confusion among fans who like to keep track of this sort of thing.

In charge will be Cheshire official Mark Heywood, who shouldn’t be confused with West Yorkshire’s Mark Haywood, who was the referee for our home game with Hartlepool five weeks ago.

Mr Heywood, with an ‘E’, is in his first season on the referee’s list and as such is making his debut at Spotland in this capacity.

However, he was in the middle for the pre-season friendly against Manchester United in July 2009, which The Reds won 2-0.

So far this season Mark has refereed just four games, all of them in League Two.

He opened his career at this level with Bradford v Aldershot on 6th August and has also been in charge at Plymouth v Wimbledon, Shrewsbury v Swindon and Northampton v Cheltenham.
