Dale sign Funky Cold Madine

Yes, the headline is possibly the worst headline we've ever come up with and ever likely to, but we've signed a striker and Tone Loc related headlines have died out since the day we were linked with the Belgian international Phillipe De Wilde.

Anyway, on with the serious stuff.

With Evil being sent out on loan to Barrow for a month or rest of the season depending on which official site you read it on, speculation was mounting that there'd be a new recruit coming through the doors at Spotland.

And we were not to be disappointed as Keith Hill went out and snapped up highly rated Carlisle striker Gary Madine on a month's loan. Madine is a tall striker who has attracted the interest of many a top flight club, and comes to Spotland with a view of getting some first team football and helping us get promoted.

He is also something of a Football Manager legend according to this site's resident computer geek (and how many years have passed since we rated all our signings based on Champ Manager?)

He's six foot four, (and five pounds for the first Dale supporter to mention that he's got a good touch for a big fella) and has made a number of first team appearances for the Cumbrians including a goalscoring spot off the bench for them in the JPT at Spotland earlier this season.

Madine goes straight into the first team squad for this weekend's trip to Wycombe.
