St Bangkok brings you his views from this week.

Being a cup week i thought to lay off my Bankers (which to be fair are pretty poor anyways so they will not be missed) and give my thoughts and comments on this months transfer dealings, or lack thereof, and the latest in the saga that is Jason Puncheon.

Firstly, the latter as I for one am very excited at the prospect of having Punch back on the bus, which now seems to be a boat for which he has been handed an oar. I for one truly believe in this guy and his abilities to steady this boat, which of late it has to be said has been springing leaks all over the place.

OK, it seems in the past Punch has acted like a bit of a bulb, but we all do silly things when young. The important thing is he has stood up and been a man about it all, apologised and put things right enough so that NC and NA have allowed him this chance to plug the gaps……with his oar……hmmm.

We are short of new signings this month and in my opinion our expectations are rather excessive and based on the false premise that NC intends, indeed is allowed to spend his way out of this slump and buy assured promotion. When the five year plan was announced it was made clear we would do this the right way and use players coming through the ranks, adding here and then when the right caliber and style of player became available.

For this reason alone I never expected to see any marquee signings unless there was to be some huge wedding party held at SMS. Indeed I will not go on and on about this but I also do not believe we have the money available that many think, and I also believe by signing big names on big money we risk upsetting a balance of harmony that we so clearly had and still I think have even though results have gone south.

So the timing of this get together and group hug that brings Punch back into the reckoning could not be better. We need some natural width and being we look unlikely to spend money on such a thing, the return of the wide man is absolutely as good as a new signing, maybe better.

Make no mistake, JP knows he has been a plum and knows he will have to do very well, if not better to win over a potential fickle crowd in his case. He is being given a chance to redeem himself, so we ALL need to get off his back, and support him hugely from the start. If NC and NA can forgive and forget so must we. Two or three bad or useless games and he will know the fans will soon turn back on him, so this is why I believe in part why he will be a spectacular success for us.

I call on all fans to welcome him back with chants of his name, songs for him etc and to give the guy a fair crack of the oar. He needs our support, he will be nervous as hell without it. So let’s be Saints together as one, as is told in legend.

PS. Any booing and I will set Bombers on ya!

Next up……a full Far East Slant on the January Window.

Spot on - let's give JP full benefit of the doubt and be supportive.

The whole team needs to know that we have faith in them to turn the recent run of form around. The next few games will be interesting, but you can easily envisage the returning players (from injury, suspension and ostracism) combining with the new talent and revitalising the promotion push.

Despite everything we are still second and three points off the top. Look at where we were in the league this time last year when the run really kicked in. I know that this is a tougher league, but this group of players deserve to have confidence in themselves and their ability to push on.

Agreed sir. Anything less would be futile!
He along with the whole team need our support, tough as it is to have watched the Leicester game.

We need to evaluate ourselves, take stock and move into the new year with that same belief.
Kick on with JP and who ever else is on the amphibious boat/bus this time nxt Tue.
