Pompey have a pre-contract agreement to sign Barnet striker Izale McLeod according to a rival manager.

Crawley boss Sean O'Driscoll revealed that he would be interested in signing McLeod should his agreement fall through, but acknowledged Pompey were a big draw for players in league One.

'Izale already has a pre-contract agreement with Portsmouth as far as I know. The situation at Portsmouth is obviously a bit unsure,' O'Driscoll told thisissussex.co.uk.

'Because of their troubles Portsmouth aren't able to sign anyone but their manager Michael [Appleton] has players lined up to sign when that embargo is lifted.

'Should things not work out with Portsmouth, though, McLeod is definitely someone I'd be interested in.

'A lot of this is in the players' hands. It is the players who hold the cards when they are out of contract. Portsmouth are a massive club with a massive base of fans. They only won the FA Cup a few years ago.'

McLeod is currently on trial on Pompey's pre-season tour of Spain, where they face Gibraltar on Friday and Brighton on July 24.
