Dunne Confirmed Permanently
Dunne Confirmed Permanently
Thursday, 27th Sep 2012 09:57 by Daniel

September 27th, 2012, known as 'Arthur's Day', after the founder of Ireland's world renown Guinness brand, and now the date that Colchester United appoint an all Irish management team of club legends.

Joe Dunne was revealed as the club's new permanent manager this morning, which is news that was not unexpected after he made it clear that he wanted the job following John Ward's departure, and because Robbie Cowling had said he was prepared to give him a shot at it. But the big surprise is that Mark Kinsella is back at the club, joining as Dunne's assistant.

With over 300 U's appearances between the pair, neither Dunne or Kinsella need any introduction to U’s fans. However, supporters may be unaware of Kinsella's management credentials - he was a first team coach and reserve team manager at both Walsall and Charlton Athletic, and last season spent a year in charge of non-league Daventry Town, leaving the club due to financial issues.

While their management style will be a big unknown, what is known is that they will bring passion and determination back to the club - something that has been missing since the Parky era.
