Kevin Austin is the latest to insist there is no grudge against Bristol Rovers on Monday

There were ugly scenes at the end of the meeting between the two sides last Tuesday - a game that the Swans won 2-0 - which led to Graeme Jones being questioned by police although there are to be no further charges against the Swans assistant manager.

And with the return game coming so quickly in tomorrow's Sky TV feast, it is natural to see sections of the media talking up a grudge match but Swansea are certainly more than concentrating on what they want to be three more points on the road to their Championship goal.

And the latest to add his words to the "no grudge gang" is veteran Swans defender - and former Rovers player - Kevin Austin who had this to say in the Wales on Sunday “Every game we play is getting bigger and bigger in terms of importance because of the stage of the season we’re at,

“The game at their place was massive, as was Southend on Friday and it’s going to go up a notch tomorrow and for every game from now on in.

“You’ve got the derby element thrown in but the games for us are big enough already because of the position we’re in and what we’re aiming for.

“There’s going to be nothing added and what happened with Graeme last week doesn’t change any of that. That’s in the past. The game’s big enough in its own right.”

These are words echoed by Roberto Martinez who said “Monday’s not a grudge match at all despite what has happened. Derbies are huge things. They are emotional, full of passion and what we want is the sporting side.”
