Welsh FA Show Lack Of Balls Again

Home > Story Index >And Why Can't We Play It In April

We have three league games left - all on a Saturday. Cardiff have four, the only midweek game being next week against Huddersfield. In my mind that means we could play in the week beginning 15th April or the week beginning 22nd. Most likely 22nd or 23rd.
The first leg of any play-off semi final would not be until April 27 so playing the 16th or 22nd seems a distinct possibility to everyone bar Cardiff City and their friends at the Welsh FA. The people in Cardiff call it their premier cup competition, but as the English FA did with Manchester United a few years back, they are letting them call the shots and being dictated to as to when the game suits them.
There is no way that any date in May should be agreed. Swansea are quite right to stand by their guns on this one and make sure that the game is played while we are still in some form of match practice. Playing it in May is just a ridiculous idea and one that should the roles have been reversed would not be allowed to even be suggested.
There are free dates between now and the end of April and if the Welsh FA had anything about them then they should announce the date before the end of this week. But we know that they haven't. They stood back and were deadly in their silence when Tony Petty was ripping this club apart but had the same happened at Cardiff City then they would have been having emergency meetings. After all they were quick enough to call one after the pitch invasion when the blue lot played Leeds back in January.
But no they seem just too keen to bow down to the wishes of Cardiff City who, as far as I see it have no argument to make about not being able to find a date. The 16th seems the most logical date to me especially seeing as their play off spot could already have been assured by then but do we hear noises from anywhere other than the Vetch for this as a date? Nope, don't be stupid.
I now urge every Swansea fan to make their views heard to the Welsh FA. They can be contacted in one of several ways. You can complete the contact the Welsh FA form by clicking here or you can contact the secretary general of the Welsh FA on 02920 372325 or even send them a snail mail at The Football Association of Wales Plymouth Chambers, 3 Westgate Street, Cardiff CF10 1DP.
This is the FAW Premier Cup we are talking about and not the Cardiff City Premier Cup. 16th or 23rd April.
