The latest statement from the Saints Trust

In what could be Southampton FC's darkest hour The Saints Trust calls on all supporters of Southampton Football Club to Reclaim The Club

The Trust urges all fans, whatever their feelings about the events of the last three years to show their support for their Football Club by being there at St Mary's Stadium when Saturday Comes to show that Southampton Football Club still means something to the people who really matter.

With the publishing of the interim results, the calling of an EGM and the falling into the bottom three in the Coca Cola Championship this week has probably been the worst in Southampton Football Club's long history, certainly in the past half century. The three largest shareholders may well be fighting over the seats at the top table, but the interim financial results make it clear to everyone that at whatever level Southampton FC finds itself playing at next season it must be run within its means, whoever is in control.  Anything else will see the club put into administration and the 10 point deductions and carpet bagging that will follow it.

Bad decision after bad decision by those who have been in charge - whoever they have been,  has brought Southampton Football Club to the position it now finds itself in.

The Saints Trust calls on those people to finally put the greater good of Southampton Football club before anything else and do what is right for the long term future of the club. The Trust also calls on all 'Supporter Shareholders' to use their votes at the forthcoming EGM.  41% of the shares in Southampton Leisure Holding PLC shares are owned by supporters.

As a supporter and shareholder make sure your votes aren't wasted in a nominee account, make your existence known and your presence felt by being there at the EGM and asking the questions needed of the three largest shareholders, the chairman, the executive directors and the non-executive directors

.Much has been made recently about finding that Dell Spirit and whatever else is happening at the club, whether it be in the boardroom, the corridors of power, the stock market or on the pitch, the sprit of Southampton, the heart and soul of the club has always been and always will be the supporters. It is time for those supporters to Reclaim The Club and remind those who purport to have its best interests at heart, yet continue to squabble amongst themselves, that they are merely guardians of the club on behalf of the supporters.

So let’s make our protests known in the best possible way, Lets not forget it was the supporters who made Delhurst Park a day to remember forever! As supporters all we can really do is show our support for Southampton Football club, not the shareholders, not the chairman or directors, the manager or the players but Southampton Football Club.    Ask not what your club can do for you in this darkest hour, but what can you do for your club!  And what you can do is be there simply to show you care.

If nothing else remember this - at the final kick of the ball Southampton Football Club is the supporters - nothing more and nothing less. Not the chairman, not the directors, not the manager and not the players - but we, you and us the supporters.
