Roberto Martinez has admitted that he is disappointed to lose Bristol City bound Lee Trundle from his squad but has vowed that his side will bounce back stronger from it in the months ahead

''Trunds has been a fantastic servant for Swansea City and has given everything for the shirt and the club over the last four years." Martinez told the official site.

''He knows how highly we think of him and that we never wanted to sell him. That's why he had to put in a transfer request. At nearly 31, Lee obviously thought about the stage of his career and wanted a new challenge with the Championship. We did everything we could to keep him, but he had made up his mind.

''The timing of his departure is not ideal with just two weeks to go to the start of the league season, but our plan is to come back stronger. We are already looking to bring someone else in, but I won't rush it. There is no deadline, because I want to get the right player for Swansea City.

''I've got huge confidence in the players in my squad and I think the fans will see their true characters shine through. I think they will relish the extra responsibility.

''Now we need to be strong and look forward, not back. All I ask is for the fans to keep getting behind the players and the football club. Their reaction is important because I can guarantee them that the players are ready to die for the Swansea City cause.''
