Britton Enjoys The Swans Style

Stylish Britton Enjoying Life

It is not just the Swansea fans who are enjoying life under Roberto Martinez - the players themselves seem to be enjoying the style that the Spaniard has brought to the side and it does appear to be bringing out the best side in each of them.

Quick passing and movement, the ball on the floor and an approach to the game that is a breath of fresh air were all things missing from the previous incumbent in the hot seat and that has seen fans coming back in numbers to watch the side with four figure travelling supports and 17000 at the Liberty last weekend for the opening league game.

And midfielder Leon Britton says that the change is no surprise and he should be one that knows. Britts arrived at the Vetch at near enough the same time as Roberto and both played a huge part in the Great Escape in 2003. They formed a solid partnership at the centre of midfield that was far and away the best in that division for the second half of that season and it's very easy to point the finger at that part of the team for the reason we stayed up.

Talking to the Wales on Sunday, Britton said "The ball is being moved quickly, one touches all over the place and sometimes when the ball has gone out of play after some of our moves it's hard not to stand back and recognise how good some of the football is

"In terms of the football we've been playing, this is probably the best I've been involved in during my career.

"But it's not surprised any of us - we all knew what Roberto was like as a player; an ultimate professional who wants to play football the right way.

"Once he became manager you knew he wasn't going to have it any other way."

"It's been enjoyable, even though we'd have liked more points on the board by now

"It's been different to what we've been used to, more so for some guys than others.

"Kenny Jackett wanted us to pass too under him but the training wasn't so focused on passing and moving; it's a change in methods and everyone here has had to adapt.

"I like that side of the game and I think the rest of the lads have been the same. It's exciting to be involved in.

"It's a long campaign and it won't always go our way - we've found that out already - but over a long season we know if we keep this up and keep believing in what we're trying to do we can do well.

"We're not naive. It can't be tippy-tappy football all the way through, we've got the dirty work to do too and when it's called for you won't find any of us not willing to put our hands up for it."
