Roberto Martinez hints that there could be a deal on the table for Michael van der Heijden

Van Der Heijden made a scoring debut against Neath on Wednesday night when he grabbed a goal in the second half of the 5-0 win and he was also in action in the 4-0 victory over Port Talbot at Carmarthen last night,

And those performances plus what he has seen in training this week is enough to suggest that the former RKC Waalwijk man could be offered an extended stay at the Liberty Stadium.  Speaking to BBC Sport, the Swans manager said I want to assess the whole squad before we make a decision

"But Michael has come in, he's shown a great attitude and he needs to keep working hard.

"I will carry on assessing Michael, we're going to keep him on until the end of the week and then we'll see what's his situation," Martinez added.

"We have many new faces from the last campaign and everyone is bringing something different, adding an extra dimension to the squad.

"Now it's a case of working together and making sure that we gel together, there are a few partnerships already on the pitch.

"Everyone has done what is required."
