Leon Battling Fitness For Sunday Friday, 28th Nov 2008 08:20 Leon Britton is desperate to feature in the South Wales derby on Sunday as he battles with his fitness The Swansea City midfielder missed Tuesday's trip to Coventry but could be back in contention on Sunday as the Swans entertain the Bluebirds in the league for the first time in 10 years. Britton says he would do "anything" to feature in the game and the decision looks as if it will be left until the last moment whether he plays or not. "I've done a bit of everything to try to get my back right," Britton told the Evening Post. "I've been resting and getting massages, I've had acupuncture, seen an osteopath and been in a flotation tank. "I've been struggling for two or three weeks and actually couldn't walk for a couple of days before the Norwich game. "But I had a scan after Birmingham which showed that there was no disc damage, which would have been a lot more serious, and hopefully now I'll be okay for the Cardiff game. "I can't say for certain because so far I haven't a trained, but things have been getting easier every day. "We've still got a couple of days before the game and I'll do anything I can to play. "I said straight after that game that I couldn't wait for the next one and I've been thinking about Sunday for the last couple of weeks "The atmosphere was electric last time and I'm sure it's going to be unbelievable again this weekend. "The hairs on the back of my neck were standing up in the warm-up and those are the days you'll remember at the end of your career. "It's disappointing that we are without those two because they are big players who have scored a lot of goals," Britton conceded. "But we have got strikers and widemen who can score goals for us. You look at someone like Mark Gower. He has been so unlucky — he's hit the bar, the post and the keeper's backside — but I'm certain he'll start getting a few soon. "I expect it to be a tight game on Sunday, probably one which is only going to be settled by the odd goal, and I'm sure we've got the players to score." "We all know how big the derby is anyway, but there's an extra incentive this weekend because if we win we'll go above them in the table "Cardiff are a good side with a lot of players with Premier League experience. "But we have come up against a lot of sides like that this season and so far we have done okay."
