Totton Hold Saints

Another game of two halves as Saints were held to a draw at Testwood Park

A bumper crowd of 1,974 who pacjked the ground and virtually drunk the bar dry saw AFC Totton fight back to earn a deserved 2-2 draw.

AS has been the norm in these games Saints put out two sides, taking a 1-0 half time lead with an Ian Richardson own goal on 31 minutes, in truth Saints had enjoyed most of the possesion but had failed to find their shooting boots.

All change at half time and pretty much the same pattern, and most in the ground would think that the game was sealed when Callum McNish made it two on 81 minutes.

But they forgot to tell Totton that and two minutes later they had pulled one back through Sherbourne, the game was into the dying seconds of 2 minutes injury time when Totton won a corner, played it short and crossed for Dean Faithful to head home, Saints had time to kick off but nothing more as the final whistle blew.

Again the emphasis was on having a workout rather than the result, but AFC Totton would have enjoyed a great evening with a crowd of nearly seven times there normal average pulling in some vital money to help them push forward with their ambition of promotion in what will be called the Zamaretto League next season, the whole evening was a credit to the club.
