De Vries On His Way Out Of Liberty

The Evening Post is reporting that Dorus De Vries will be leaving the Liberty Stadium this summer

The Swansea City goalkeeper is reported to have turned down a two year contract offer and has been refused more time to consider his options as the Swans lose patience with the Dutch stopper.

The Post reports that the club agreed terms with him last week and he was given seven days to sign the deal but that deadline has passed and the offer has now been withdrawn with Turkish football a possible destination for Dorus.

The two parties have been in discussion for six months over a new deal but - in much the same way as Andy Robinson left for Leeds last season - the Swans play hardball when they believe they have reached the top level that they are prepared to offer.

The paper says "The player's agent, Dutchman Arnold Oosterveer, told Swansea his player wanted more time to consider his options and the club said no.

"Barring a dramatic reconciliation, de Vries's time as a Swan will now come to an end when his contract expires next month and he is already being linked with a possible move to Turkish football."
