Wigan Athletic have confirmed to Sky Sports News that they've made an offer for Swans striker Jason Scoland

Yesterday, it was revealed that Scotland missed the squad's trip to Portugal, although Huw Jenkins insisted that it was merely due to the 30 year old's groin injury.

Wigan, now managed by former Swans boss Roberto Martinez, have made no secret of their interest in the frontman in recent weeks, but it's believed that this is the first official offer made by the Latics.

Burnley are the only club to have made a firm bid - worth just over £1m - for the former St Johnstone man, but it fell some way short of the club's valuation of the player.

Scotland scored 24 times last season, making him the 2nd highest goalscorer in the Championship.
