Chairman Calls For Full Houses
Chairman Calls For Full Houses

Huw Jenkins has called on the Swans fans to get behind the team with a full house at the Liberty Stadium

Swansea City sit 4th place in the Championship and the Chairman believes that that should be enough to see people flocking to the stadium to back the team as they chase their Premier League dream.

Just over 15,000 turned up for the last game against Newcastle with the low crowd blamed on the rugby and the live TV coverage of the game.   But with the team preparing to host Peterborough on Saturday, Jenkins wants everyone to make the effort to support the Swans

"When you consider what the players and Paulo (Sousa) have done this season, our stadium should be full every week," the Swansea chairman told the Evening Post.

"If we are going to get the recognition we deserve as a club, and if we are going to keep moving forward, we want to see a full house every time we play at home.

"This is nothing to do with finances.

"I'm talking about what our players and management deserve, and that is to be walking out in front of 18,000 or 19,000 every week.

"It would be great for the players because of the atmosphere a big crowd generates, and it would also be good for the perception of our club.

"We are aware that we have come a long way in terms of crowds in the last few years," Jenkins added. "We know that averaging more than 15,000 is a great achievement when you consider where our gates were just a few years ago.

"But Paulo is an ambitious man and he is a winner.

"He wants to see our club moving forward, and one way of us doing that is to have a full ground every week."
