Alan Tate is ignoring his personal pain and concentrating on the Swans play off push

Swansea City's vice captain is again at the head of the Swans promotion push having led the side on many occasions this season due to the various injuries that have struck Garry Monk this season.

And Tate continues to play on despite probably needing his own rest and having his own injury concerns.

He told the Western Mail “There’s not much of a choice at the moment and I don’t mind – whether it takes 11 injections then so be it.

“It hurts but I’ve just got to get on with it. There’s hopefully 11 games left for us this season and it’s just a case of gritting my teeth and getting on with it

“I don’t know whether I need surgery or not

“They’ve offered for me to go for a scan but I’ve said no because I know the situation means I’m going to have to play regardless, so what’s the point?

“I’ll do what it takes. It’s a case of needs must.

“I don’t mind as I feel I’m playing well regardless and the longer that goes on, the greater the confidence is to keep on doing well, which helps the team do well,” Tate said.

“A lot of teams go through similar things at this time of the season but for us to be where we are is a testament to our season.

“We just have to keep that going.  It will be tough but it’s always tough.

“The important thing is that it’s in our own hands which is what we always aim for at the start of the season and all we can ask for.”
