Brendan Rodgers says his players were fantastic after a fourth successive home win

Late goals from Scott Sinclair and Stephen Dobbie kept intact the Swans perfect home record and Brendan could not have been happier when he spoke to the assembled press after the game

"I thought my players were fantastic,'' he told the official website.

"Tactically Scunthorpe made it very difficult for us and after their result (4-0 win at Sheffield United) in midweek I knew we would have a game on our hands. You've got to pay Scunthorpe a lot of respect.

"In the first-half we wanted to run with the ball too much, but we were a lot better after the break.

"We kept knocking on the door and showed great perseverance. It was important we remained patient and kept looking for the spaces.

"We also changed things ourselves tactically, with Stephen Dobbie and David Cotterill coming on, and it worked.

"They were two great finishes from Scott (Sinclair) and Stephen (Dobbie), but it was also important that we kept a clean sheet; the third from four home games.

"We showed style and steel again and it was important we picked up the three points because we've got three long journeys ahead of us which will test up.'

"It's nice to be up there,'' added Rodgers. "It's still early days, but I'd rather be where we are than down towards the bottom.

"The players deserve to be up there, but you can't have a good look at the table until after the busy Christmas period. As long as we are in or around the top six then it will give us great focus going into the final stages.

"It's difficult to say we are going to be promotion contenders because there are a lot of teams who can spend more money than us.

"But I've got great confidence in this group and I know we will only get better.''
