Garry Monk heads to Peterborough looking for what he hopes will be the start of a series of away wins

Swansea City have been beaten in seven successive away league trips with only the Carling Cup victory over Tranmere giving them any break in a horrendous run of away form

But Monk believes that victory over Peterborough could set them up nicely for league trips to Nottingham Forest and Watford as they look to put that run behind them

“We don’t look at it as a monkey on our backs but we know it is important to get away wins,” said Monk when talking to the Western Mail.

“The games are coming thick and fast at the moment so it is important to build momentum.

“We’ve got three away games in a row so it’s important we go to Peterborough with a good attitude and get the right result.

“Obviously we always want to win, home and away, and of course we think about it but if we had been going away from home and playing rubbish and not deserving anything, then I would be worried.

“But our performance levels have been really good and it’s just been a few errors where we have let ourselves down.

“It will come with experience. We have a lot of young players in the side and away from home we just need to tweak a few things and the wins will come.

“Away from home when you are on their patch, at a tight ground, I’m sure they will be thinking they can progress in the cup as well.

“They are full of confidence, second in League One and we are doing really well so it’s going to be a really entertaining game.

“They’ve got some great players, they’ve managed to keep hold of their top trio in the transfer window so it’s going to be an extremely tough place to go but a challenge we are looking forward to. At every game we play we know we’ve got to be at our very best.

“In the first round against Barnet there was a 20 minute period when we were not at our best and they could have taken advantage of that and at Tranmere we left it late to take hold of the game.

“It’s going to be a really tough. Hopefully it will be an open and entertaining game and we are going up there to win."
