World Cup Winner praises Swans

Since being elevated to the Premier League at the start of last season Swansea City have won praise from many for their flowing passing style but now we can count the plaudits of the only scorer of a World Cup Final hat-trick amongst our admirers.

The former West Ham and England legend said today:

“Swansea City really established themselves as a very good Barclays Premier League club in their first season back in the top flight.
“Swansea City were a breath of fresh air in the Premier League last season. They showed that newly-promoted sides can go into the division and play good football. While I was at West Ham, we built a reputation for our style of play and slick passing and I’m full of admiration for Swansea City for theirs.”
“I think the second season is often the hardest for newly promoted sides to stay in the division, but certainly for the football they play, it would be nice to see them survive.”

Sir Geoff, who played over 400 league games for West Ham, added: “Most certainly, it will be a tough place for West Ham to go to look for a result.”
