Highly-rated referee Andy Madley will be the man-in-the-middle for Dale’s derby match with Accrington on Tuesday.

Mr Madley is in only his second season on the league list, but he has been receiving some important appointments this term, including several Championship fixtures and ties in the third and fourth rounds of the FA Cup.

This will be Andy’s second game at Spotland, as last April he was the referee for the remarkable home match against Exeter when Dale came from 2-0 down to win 3-2, scoring all their goals in the final 11 minutes.

We also saw him for the goalless draw at Walsall on New Year’s Eve 2011.

A 29-year-old PE teacher from Ossett, Andy is the brother of Football League referee Bobby Madley, who officiated Dale’s Boxing Day loss at Burton and the JPT tie at home to bury in October.

So far this term, Andy has refereed 26 games, showing 76 yellow cards and two red, the second of which went to Charlton’s Yann Kermorgant on Saturday in their 2-0 home loss to Nottingham Forest.
