Wanyama To Return To Squad For Arsenal Game ?
Monday, 27th Jan 2014 20:55

Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that Victor Wanyama could return to the squad for the visit of Arsenal on Tuesday night.

Speaking at his pre match press conference Saints manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Wanyama has come through training over the last week or so and could return to the squad for the visit of the Gunners.

However it is more likely that Wanyama will play a bigger part in the trip to Fulham on Saturday than he will on Tuesday after what has been an almost two month lay off.

However the Saints boss would reveal no more than the Kenyan could be in the squad and may get some minutes on the pitch, suggesting that he would not be gambling by throwing in the midfielder from the start.

He also commented on Rickie Lambert saying that it would be a late decision on the strikers fitness and it may be that he may have to settle for a place on the bench.

Artur Boruc however does look set to return, his omission from the game against Yeovil was more precautionary after suffering a back injury at Sunderland and hopefully with the extra days recuperation the Polish glovesman should be fit to take his place in between the posts.

slightly off topic I know but I am absolutely loving the fact that the new Southampton is unfazed by the media speculation surrounding Luke Shaw, the only surprise being that there has been little with regard to others like Llalana,Clyne,Chambers and Ward-Prowse.
Shaw has his future mapped out for him at Saints, my guess is he will be moved up to midfield next season when Targett should come in at left back. Wont be surprised if one or two others are promoted as well, Hesketh being a prime candidate. Expect Saints to shake the Premiership to the core next season when suddenly there could six or seven top youngsters in the side. The press wont know where to look first..

Im not so sure he will move up to midfield, defensively he is strong but the one part of his game that is lacking is the attacking part, he struggles to beat a man at times and get in a decent cross, when he does do its great, but he doesnt seem to have the confidence o do it enough
