Saints Return For Pre Season Training On Monday
Sunday, 28th Jun 2015 21:28

Saints begin their preparation for 2015/16 on Monday 29th June and have only a month before their first competitive game, but who won't be there ?

Saints players gather for pre season training on Monday morning at Staplewood and although there will be a new face or two, perhaps two of the faces missing who will have been given an extra week off for international duty will never return.

The chances are that Morgan Schneiderlin and Nathaniel Clyne have already trained for the last time at the Saints training complex with both expected to sign for Manchester United and Liverpool respectively.

But it is not about the past it is about the future and the likes of Marten Stekelenburg, Juanmi and Cedric Soares will all soon be meeting their new team mates, although Soares has an extra week due to his time with Portugal.

This year it will be a case of getting up to speed quicker than usual, usually pre season is geared towards a six week programme to bring the squad up to its peak for the start of the league season, but this year is different in that Saints first game is a little over four weeks away in the Europa League.

But Ronald Koeman Is used to this level of preparation so it will come as nothing new to him.

Saints well have ten days before their first pre season friendly and if that is low key only three days later they play in the Red Bull Salzburg tournament which will have a lot tougher opposition although the two game 45 minute format will give the chance for a bit of mix and match.

The big question though is what new faces will join the club in the next few weeks and that will b key to getting the season off to a good start.
