Reading 1 Swansea 1 - Bartley Earns Swans Draw

Kyle Bartley scored the equaliser as the Swans continued their pre-season efforts with a draw against Championship side Reading at Adams Park, home of Wycombe Wanderers.

The Swans fielded a strong looking side against Reading with a team that included Leon Britton, who captained the team. That in itself can be seen I suspect in one of two ways - a fitting end to a Swansea career or a sure sign that he has a long term future at the club. Either way it was great to see Leon back in a Swansea shirt once more and long may it continue?

Both Marvin Emnes and Jonjo Shelvey hit the woodwork to deny the Swans a victory that they possibly deserved but in the end it was classed as a strong workout for the team with just two weeks remaining until the season opener at Chelsea.

A goalless first half was soon changed as the Swans went a goal down within a minute of the restart when Blackman scored from 25 yards off the underside of the cross bar. The ‘home’ side’s lead though didn’t last long when Kyle Bartley tapped home after excellent work out wide from Jefferson Montero, back in the Swans side after his summer exploits on the international stage.

Pogrebynak hit the post for the home side and Bartley came close for the Swans as the game ebbed and flowed towards its conclusion.

In the end though there was to be no scoring and in front of almost 1,300 the game ended level.

Swansea City: Nordfelt; Rangel, Tabanou, Bartley, Kingsley, Britton (c), Sigurdsson, Shelvey, Dyer, Montero, Emnes.
