Koeman Due To Hold Face To Face Talks With Everton Today
Monday, 13th Jun 2016 16:48

Ronald Koeman will meet with Everton face to face today according to the Liverpool Echo as rumours start to creep in on Merseyside that this wil not be a done deal.

Ronald Koeman appears to have yet to have actually spoken to Everton directly regarding his proposed move to Goodison Park.

Although the full details of this move are very unclear, it seems that Everton had originally hired Koeman's now agent to persuade the Dutchman to move to Merseyside and that the deal was concluded between the agent and Everton whilst Koeman was on his way to his holiday.

This means that although the terms of any deal have been agreed that Koeman has actually yet to decide whether he wants to move to Everton or not, he has not sat down with Everton's representatives and sought their agreement on just how he would be allowed to run things should he decide to join them.

This means the deal is far from complete and even the Liverpool Echo who understandably are talking up Everton's chances say that there is nothing likely to be announced before Wednesday.

So far from being clear cut, it seems that although money has been agreed between Everton and Koeman's agent, there is still a fair way to go before a deal can be completed.

Also there is the question of whether Saints and Everton have agreed terms, Saints are said to be prepared to hold out for exactly what they want and even to go as far as to pay Koeman to sit out the coming season on gardening leave should these causes not be met by Everton.

So it seems that Koeman will speak to Everton, also almost certainly speak to Saints and then manke his decision whether to stay or go.

Whichever he decides it seems that this is not the clear cut case his agent was portraying 10 days ago and only wages have really been agreed so far.

Of course money is a big draw for any man, especially when it is an amount that would make Koeman the 5th highest paid manager in the World, however sometimes it is not all about money, Ronald Koeman has always said that, we will now find out whether that holds true.

I still think he will join Everton, however the odds on him doing so have lengthened, I would have said 10 days ago judging purely on his agents boasts that it was 99% certain, now it is far less than that.

I think this saga has gone on too far. The season ended 4 weeks ago and there was even speculation before then that Everton were after him. And still nothing coming from Saints or Everton. There has been so much media speculation that if there were no truth in the rumours then by now Saints, and especially Koeman himself , should have at least issued some sort of statement to say so.................I believe that even if Koeman does not leave for Everton his job as Saints manager has become untenable. The end scenario will be either him going to Everton or him resigning. Either way we will have a new manager.

I don't see his situation as Saints manager as untenable. Not only has there been no comment from Everton or Saints, there has been no comment from Koeman. Who's to say this isn't just paper talk, and whilst Saints quoted Everton a price for our manager it doesn't mean he wants to leave. Perhaps he did go as far as to discuss terms, but he wanted some time to think it over and he has realised heis better off at Saints?

If he chose to stay I'd be absolutely delighted, assuming he signs a new contract. He has done a great job, and by choosing to turn this down it shows he'd only leave for a 'top' job, such as Barcelona or maybe his national team. We couldn't get better commitment than that.

If he goes, then that's life. We have done okay so far replacing managers, so I have faith we'll do it again and march on from there.

Well said saintstuinoz, it's not as though he ran round the pitch kissing the Saints badge, then declared his head has been in Everton for the last month.
He has commented neither have Saints, which is our way. So if there is no deal it will be business as usual.

I would laugh my arse off if it falls through for him. But I doubt it will.

I can't see a way back for him. If he really didn't want to go he'd have said something before now. I suspect he's unsure what to do now, but the fact that he's had his head turned is out there for everyone to see. I reckon he'll go, but reluctantly. He'll be waiting for those dream jobs he speaks of at the nearest opportunity. Ever since reading that article on the Sotonian I'm actually starting to think this is a good move for us. I'm not sure how much truth is in the article, but it definitely makes sense.

bstokesaint - why should he have said something? It's not for him to comment on every rumour, and certainly not when the club hasn't said anything about it.

I expect him to go too. If they're seriously going to pay the reported sum, I doubt we could keep anyone as manager.

We need to appreciate that we are not the world's biggest club, and Le Tissier apart, everyone is probably using us as a launchpad to either more money or more glory. What we can do is appreciate great players/managers whilst we have them and enjoy the excellent period of success we're having currently. 5 years ago we were just winning promotion out of League 1 and now we're top 6 and in the Europa League. If Koeman goes we'll attract another top manager, and maybe push on again.

Well said saintstuinoz.

Not sure that Sotonian article is up to scratch. Seems to be a lot of speculative threads all put together. It implies Saints were actually keen to see him go and that he was damaging morale with bullying behaviour etc, but omits the fact Saints were quite happy to get him to sign for a further two years. Also - it's a bit bonkers to "call Saints bluff" so much as to actually get his agent to imply it's a done deal!

Yet RK may decide the EFC plan is not for him once he hears more.

If he sacks his agent . Splutters love poems to all saints supporters and signs a contract for at least three years then I hope he stays. Poor Everton supporters will be jumping into the Mersey. Yes that would be quite a scenario. Let it happen.

Hardly "any rumour" I would say it was a fairly major thing & the decent thing to do was say something..the agent works for him not the other way round.
No way back as far as I'm concerned...he has tried to force Saints hand but it backfired & he should be unemployable as a manager now.

Of course he should have said something-did you notice that managers the Saints were interested immediately said they were not interested in the job? They took themselves out of the running, letting the club know they should look elsewhere.

His integrity has taken a hit-The really big clubs will know he will skive off to a down-market club if the money is right.

At the moment, Ronald has done nothing to damage his reputation, but his new agent has a lot to answer for, especially if the scare proves groundless. If his brother and fitness coach are more than happy to stay then their input will surely have some influence. By keeping quiet you could read into it and come to many conclusions. These include Ronald is entitled to have a holiday and decided to have time to think about the mess his new agent has got him into.

If someone came looking for your services wouldn't you like the opportunity to talk to them? Any good employer would let their employee know how valuable he is, but out of respect, allow him to see what the interest is. RK knows how valuable he is to SFC and despite the 'leap before you look' brigade, I certainly want him to stay. He would always be in my top three managers at SFC over my 64 years supporting the Saints.

The next 48hrs could save us the worry of looking for a new manager. If there was a change, even Emery could be a total disaster so for me, better the devil you know.

Sorry to those who think remaining silent is a defence. There comes a point when you need to speak up. For God sake this was more than a rumour we had everyone associated with Everton telling us he'd agreed terms and was set to "sign with 24 hours." The SFC talks suddenly died a death. Unless Ron was potholing for 2 weeks 24/7 he knew how this would be perceived. It'd be a bit naive to believe that we'd all just assume all was okay too.

Sorry EvertonSaint "At the moment, Ronald has done nothing to damage his reputation, but his new agent has a lot to answer for" is blaming the monkey when as bstokesaint and JohnT wisely say the organ grinder has the say-so on all this and has clearly made choices that directly contradict earlier statements - and to believe that his new agent has done all this without Ron's permission is quite frankly nonsense.

By the way: "Face to face talks with Everton TODAY". As I write at 10.20 today is nearly done - any news on these 'talks'?

Koeman met with Everton today. Apparently there's a mountain of paperwork to go through before he's paraded, probably on Wednesday.
The two clubs agreed compensation of £5m for the two Koemans' and the fitness coach last week. Sammy Lee stays and his place alongside Koeman will be filled by Duncan Ferguson.

All over tomorrows press that Koeman will be named Everton manager tomorrow.
Deep down I think everyone knew he'd gone and it was just a case of dotting the I's and crossing the T's. Also lots of speculation that he's coming back for Forster.

These talks shouldn't take too long - he can talk to both sides at the same time .... The Two Faced Douche Bag.
