McDermott linked with Latics switch Wednesday, 31st May 2017 14:49 by Col Dale's out of contract winger Donal McDermott has been linked with a switch to Oldham. Fresh from having his contract offer withdrawn by Chesterfield after he failed to notify them of his intentions, it would appear that the next of his options could involve a move to Boundary Park if local media is to be believed. The report in the Oldham Chronicle doesn't carry any quotes from anyone to go with the story, but Oldham were a club mentioned on the Chesterfield forum following their contract withdrawal, and McDermott once had a loan spell at Chesterfield at a time when current Oldham boss John Sheridan was manager. McDermott was offered a new contract at the end of the season, despite spending most of the season out of the first team. However, Keith Hill stated in interview that McDermott had options available to him in terms of a possible move.
