Shay Hello Wave Goodbye
Monday, 17th Jul 2017 11:00 by Col

Our other friendly on Tuesday involves a trip across the hills to take on rivals from yesteryear Halifax Town.

The days of the Peake overhead kick, the Paddy wonder goal and Robbie Wakenshaw's finest career moment (if you discount this debut) suddenly seem a very long time ago, and it's been fifteen years since we last kicked a competitive ball at the Shay, with a whole generation of Dale supporters knowing Halifax as anything other than pre-season opposition.

The Shaymen were promoted back to the National League last season, after beating Tuesday's other opponents Chorley after extra time in the Play Off Final.

It's not the cheapest at the Shay. Admission to the Halifax friendly will be £12 for adults, concessions for £8, £5 for those under sixteen and £2 for U12's.

Oddly, there's a dearth of former Daleys within the Halifax ranks. The closest that you'll get is striker Adam Morgan who had a brief trial spell with us three years ago.
