Ward Prowse In Line For England Call Up !
Wednesday, 27th Sep 2017 08:00

Jams Ward Prowse could be the surprise name in the England squad for the up and coming World Cup qualifyers, Arron Sanders tells us why.

England manager Gareth Southgate, is facing a midfield crisis ahead of the sides crucial World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia at home and away to Lithuania in which there will be an expectancy from the nation to secure qualification to next summers World Cup tournament.

With England already without the influential Delle Alli through suspension, and now the news that Nathaniel Chalobah is to have surgery Southgate is set to turn to Saints' James Ward-Prowse in order to keep the view that their is a chance for progression from the Countries under 21's side which he has previously managed.

It will be a well received call up from Saints fans should the academy graduate be named in the latest National squad, with his qualities from dead ball scenarios and his crossing abilities a real attribute that he can bring to any side.

Hopefully a call up for the young midfielder could bring him on and improve his form for Saints and help with providing our strikers some great service to put an end to the current issues in front of goal that the side is experiencing.

Fingers crossed Prowsey gets his call up and it will be a proud day for him and his family and also for the Saints

Fantastic player, well deserved if true.

Sanguin needs Les Reed to keep him watered, otherwise his plant leaves will shrivel up. Player, not good enough for Saints, gets to play for rubbish England shocker! England appears to have 3 English born midfielders. All the good ones are foreign!

You wonder why some people call themselves supporters. Really hope the players don't read the comments on here.

You sure you're not getting confused with Mason Crane?

He is Rubbish not good enough for Saints. To lightweight and offers nothing. He is the main reason we are not scoring. To negative. Should be loaned out.

If he were to be selected I would suggest it reflects more on the state of the England teams overall abilities rather than those of J W P.

He's 50th choice then.

I hope he does play so that the Reed plants on here can see how useless he is on the world stage and finally bury this BS about dead ball specialist etc.
I hope he does read these comments so he can work in the gym more and practise doing something for Saints instead of jogging round and checking his bank balance on his phone.

Good luck to him. It should be every player's ambition to play for their country, so good for him.

If this is the best England have got, God help us.

We used to be proud when a Saints player got selected for England, now we are but only if he is not one of the scapegoats.

But once JWP or Redmond suddenly get sold to a big club, all the moaners will start to moan at the club for selling them and complain that we havent replaced them.

The same people who constantly slated Mane and now wonder why he is playing well for Liverpool ? Because their crowd support him is the answer

"with his qualities from dead ball scenarios and his crossing abilities a real attribute that he can bring to any side."

99% of his crosses are aimed accurately at oppositon players and his free-kicks from goal scoring positions are all aimed precisely a yard high and wide of the goal. He is one of the biggest assets on the pitch for the opposition. We always play so much better when he's not there to stop our attacks or allow the opposition forwards to run unchallenged through the middle.

I wish they did. They would then realise how appalling thier attiude is. They all need 2 hours a day doing basic technique and shooting practice. Also they don't seem to know what playing triangles mean. They also do not want or call for the ball. They also don't move when they have released the ball. Long and Austin have no first touch skills at all. They are all seasoned pros with little basic skills, they should have learnt years ago. Some ignorant gnome gave all this rubbish long contract extensions . They are here for years, cos nobody wants them. No hopers with no skills. Tres boring to watch. Dog help us till the next window and another failure by that 4-eyed gnome to address the now 10 month no-goal elephant in the room. Les Reed is bringing out a diierent player a week, to try and convince Saints fans that at the next game or the game after that , the players who can't score will suddenly be goal scorers, as if by magic. Don't fool me. Resign and disappear. Freddie, get someone in who will buy 2 players in Jan to replace Davis and Prowse. We can finally then move on, finally.

Nick, do you seriously believe Ward-Prowse and Redmond are going to be sold to a big club??? They are even weak links here and we are not a big club. They are not and never will be in the same class as Mane. I and many others always rated Mane. Ward-Prowse and Redmiond are not in the same class as him. In fac,t I said Mane was worth 80 million and he is. Reed sold him far too cheaply. Redmond is an average midfielder being played out of postion as a forward; Ward-Prowse is just a below average midfielder.

I am always proud when a Saints player is capped for England but Ward-Prowse was one of the weakest of our players to receive that honour when he came on as a sub for Livermore in the final 10 minutes of our defeat to Germany.

There are some right numpties on here today. JWP is a good player and certainly as good or better than some other England Midfielders I have witnessed over the years.
What makes anyone believe England are better than Southampton in the first place ? England have been very average for many, many years benefiting only from playing 90% of friendlies at Wembley and never playing anyone decent in a competitive game.. when they do, they lose.

Gee Nick, if only you wore the same glasses to look at Yoshi as you do JWP!

Yes, it's nice to be called to represent your country, but that is no indication of quality-especially if it's England!

For those who, like some pundits, think JWP is the second coming of Beckham, ask yourself this-when the Saints get a free kick or a corner, do you ever, ever, think they will score?

As myself and others have ranted many times before-this is training ground stuff!-and JWP needs to get in the weight room.

If JWP and Redmond were as good as some think-wouldn't Les have sold them at a discount to the Scouse by now? I mean he only keeps good players for a year in case they might actually help the Saints achieve something....

I think it is great when Saints players get picked for England. The downside is they then share a dressing room with players from 'bigger' clubs and perhaps start thinking of pastures new. In the case of Redmond and JWP I would be pretty happy if that happened. Only trouble is I can't see a 'big' side wanting them....

Good luck to the lad.

If he is selected for England it will demonstrate that Southgate hasn't watched many/any Saints games this season - Ward-Prowse has looked mediocre. To make a comparison between JWP and Mane is completely ludicrous - one is a world class attacker (and was when he played with us) the other is a plodding midfielder with only a coached dead ball technique and some training ground passing techniques to recommend him.

Maybe most of the commentators on here would be better of supporting another team.
