Will Saints Have A New Third Kit For The Trip To Bournemouth ?
Tuesday, 28th Nov 2017 09:30

Last season both of Saints kits clashed with Bournemouth's meaning we produced a third kit to wear, will that be the case again this season.

Saints two kits from last season both clashed with the Cherries red & black stripes and it seems that could be the case again this weekend with our home kit's predominately red clashing and also the away kits green (!) & black stripes.

As you can see from the pictures above both will clash with the home side, although a few years ago before the commercialisation of football perhaps either would have been used.

A year ago Saints produced a white third kit for the trip across the New Forest and that also had an outing at Wembley in the League Cup final, but the question now is will Saints use that kit again or will they bring out a new design and colourway to visit Bournemouth ?

Personally I would like to see the club use a little imagination here, perhaps given the retro 1980 design of our current first team kit they could employ the away kit of that era, the dark blue/light blue combination that saw scarves being purloined from St Annes pupils, with this being the girls school's colours.

I am not a big fan of either kit, but it would enter into the spirit of things with regard to the current kit and bring fond memories of the likes of Kevin Keegan (pictured below) , Mick Channon, Steve Moran, Steve Williams etc wearing it.

Luminous yellow is best.. so JWP can pick out Austin's bonce from 40 yards. I could be wrong, but I think most supporters would argue (and pay for) for a good yellow away kit - i don't know why the Club don't see that. It is the colour of 76, provides a cheerful song for away fans to sing at corners, and a nice easy one to pick out your target with crosses. The black, and now this green nonsense is simply ridiculous.

If there is a need to change; the above dark blue / blue away kit would be great in keeping with the spirit of of the current home kit. Both are great kit designs and this template should be ours design moving imo, an identity clearly separating us form the Stokes, Sunderlands, Brentfords, Athletico Madrids of this world.

We could have a yellow and blue away kit though as well !

Yes - yellow and blue is forever etched into the hearts of all true Saints supporters. My earliest memories even well before 76 are of yellow or a gold type colour as the 'change kit' (before the commercialism that brought in the 'away kit' and then 'third kit' and kit changes every 30 seconds). That said, 3 pts and I don't care what we are wearing!!
