Refwatch: Gillingham v Dale
Friday, 12th Jan 2018 20:21 by TVOS

Dale will meet a new referee on Saturday when Lee Swabey takes charge of their League One game at Gillingham.

The Plymouth official is in his third season on the referees’ list, but this will be the first time he has refereed a Rochdale game.

His first league appointment in August 2015 was Mansfield v Carlisle and since then he has refereed entirely in the two basement divisions, as well as at a number of games in all three knockout competitions.

Mr Swabey previously visited Gillingham in October 2015 for their 2-1 defeat of Scunthorpe, as well as their 1-0 loss to Oxford just over a year ago.

Injury problems have kept Lee sidelined for much of this season, but he has been very active since the start of December and last weekend refereed Charlton’s home game versus Oldham.

All told this term, Swabey has been in the middle for eight games in which he has shown 29 yellow cards and one red.
