Bunney departure confirmed
Tuesday, 16th Jan 2018 17:46 by Col

It's been confirmed on Tuesday evening that Joe Bunney has signed for Northampton.

As reported on Monday, rumours were rife of interest in the former Stockport man from Northampton with talk of a bid being accepted. Those rumours proved to be true on Tuesday with the news that Bunney had signed a two and a half year contract with the Cobblers.

The departure will be something of a blow to Dale, as whilst Joe hasn't hit the heights of last season, he has been integral to much of what we do and on his day there was no one better at putting a ball in than he was.

Defensively this leaves us rather light. Ntlhe can play at left back , but has proven somewhat inconsistent when played there, and reports suggest new signing Ryan Delaney is more of a left sided central defender than a left back. There had been talk of a swap deal involved David Buchanan signing for Dale - the club he supported as a lad, but he distanced himself from those rumours by announcing a contract extention.

More assets being sold. No solid investment from the board in either the ground or the team. Keith Hill defending the undisclosed fee received, was it a clause in his long contract to sell everything not nailed down and replace with sub standard replacements. Never saw any investmemt from the Hogan sell on. League 2 here we come,.
