Dale will meet another new referee on Saturday when Nick Kinseley takes charge of their League One fixture at Oxford.

The Essex official is in his third season on the referees’ list and although we haven’t seen him in action before, Mr Kinseley has previously been appointed to a Dale game!

That came just over two years ago when Nick was scheduled to referee our visit to Port Vale, but a late change saw him replaced by Andy Madley, who oversaw Dale’s 4-1 defeat.

Since his promotion to the National List in 2015, Mr Kinseley has refereed in League One and League Two, as well as at numerous matches in all three cup competitions.

The most recent of those was a fortnight ago when Nick was in the middle for MK Dons’ 2-1 home loss to Doncaster.

All told this term, Kinseley’s 28 appointments have produced 119 yellow cards and six red; one of his cardless games was Oxford’s 1-1 home draw with Shrewsbury back in August.
