Perkins returns Thursday, 24th May 2018 20:58 by Col He's coming home. So what do we know about David Perkins then... :-) Just two weeks after picking up a League One winners medal with Wigan, David Perkins has returned to Spotland and signed a two year contract at the club. Despite being 35 now, he still played a key role in the title winning side and had a standout performance as they knocked Manchester City out of the FA Cup this season. It's over ten years since he made his last appearance for the club in that famous Play Off game against Darlington in which he scored an absolute screamer to give Dale a 2-1 second leg victory. Of course, that game also saw him red carded in what we thought was his final appearance for the club. He seems an ideal signing for the club - indeed, last season it was said over and over again that we missed a Perkins style player, and you can't get more Perkins style than Perkins himself He leaves Wigan despite being offered a fresh deal but with appearances likely to be limited in the Championship next season, he has come back to Spotland with a desire to play football.
